Winter in France Special Podcast Episode Part II: Today, we will focus on learning vocabulary around winter sports and skiing in French!

La montagne = the mountain = la montagne
La neige… la neige… the snow…
La poudreuse…la poudreuse .. Fresh fallen snow…
Chalet is the name for the typical wood houses in the French mountain… Un chalet, le chalet
La luge… La luge is the sled.. La luge
Le ski de fond … Le ski de fond,,, is cross-country skiing … le ski de fond
Le ski alpin… le ski alpin …. downhill skiing
For chairlift you can use two words:
Le télésiège = le télésiège…
Les remontées mécaniques =. The chair lift …. Les remontées mécaniques…
Le tire-fesse …T-bar lift…. Le tire-fesse…. The meaning in French is pull-buttock!
Le téléphérique = the cable car = le téléphérique, they often huge cabins taking you to the top of the mountains.
Les pistes = the trails/ the runs…. Les pistes
La piste verte = the green run… la piste verte
La piste bleue = the blue run…la piste bleue
La piste rouge = the red trail … la piste rouge
La piste noire = the black run
La bosse = moghul = la bosse
Le forfait…. Le forfait = ski pass
Les bâtons = the ski poles = les bâtons
Les Fixations = ski binging = les fixations
Fart = ski wax ! = this is funny!!
Les gants = the gloves = les gants
Les moufles = the mittens = les mouffles
