How to Say ‘Not Much’ In French

# 1 Not much = Pas beaucoup
You can’t go wrong with ‘pas beaucoup‘. This is the most common way to say ‘not much‘ when replying.
Par exemple :
Tu fais beaucoup de marche ? Non, pas beaucoup. = Do you walk a lot? No, not much
Vous aimez le poisson? Pas beaucoup. = Do you like fish? Not much.
#2 Not much = Pas trop
‘Pas Trop‘ is used a lot in spoken French to say ‘not much’ but tricky to pronounce. Make sure not to voice the ‘p’ at the end!
Par exemple :
Vous allez souvent au théâtre ? Non, pas trop. = Do you go often to the theater? no, not much.
Tu aimes les olives ? Non pas trop. Do you like olives? No, not much.

#3 Not much = pas des masses
‘Pas des masses‘ is a very casual way to say ‘not much’ or ‘not a lot’. Don’t voice the ‘s’ at the end. Using ‘Pas des masses’ will make you sound instantly French.
Par exemple :
Tu regardes Netflix ? Non, pas des masses. = Do you watch Netflix? No, not much.
Vous mangez souvent à emporter ? Non, pas des masses. = Do you eat take out often? No, not much.
#4 Not much = Pas grand chose
Use ‘pas grand chose‘ when you mean ‘ Nothing special’.
Par exemple :
Tu fais quoi cet après-midi? Pas grand chose. = What are you doing this afternoon? Not much.
