Halloween Episode: Haunted Castles in France! Today, a Halloween Special, dedicated to the most haunted places in France!! During this episode, you will also learn more pronunciation, and of course, where to go if you want to experience a ghostly French stay!
In France, many places hold secrets. This is notably the case of Château de Fourgeret in Queaux, qualified as the “most haunted in France” or of Puymartin in Marquay. All these addresses are allegedly possessed by ghosts, who do not hesitate to make appearances to surprise visitors….

Le château de Trécesson à Campénéac
Au cœur de la Bretagne, proche de la forêt de Brocéliande, le château de Trécesson se présente comme un site exceptionnel. Ce lieu serait l’un des plus beaux châteaux de Bretagne, mais aussi une véritable maison hantée. La légende raconte qu’une jeune femme en habit de noces aurait été enterrée vivante, dans les jardins, vers 1750. Du nom de “Mariée de Trécesson”, elle ferait régulièrement des apparitions, pour effrayer les visiteurs.

In the heart of Brittany, near the forest of Brocéliande, the castle of Trécesson is an exceptional site. This place would be one of the most beautiful castles of Brittany, but also a real haunted house. Legend has it that a young woman in wedding dress was buried alive in the gardens around 1750. Named “Mariée de Trécesson”, she would regularly appear to frighten visitors.

Le château de Veauce à Veauce
Au nord de Clermont-Ferrand, le château de Veauce était habité par le baron Tagori de la Tour entre 1973 et 1998. Depuis le XVIe siècle, le fantôme de Lucie, une domestique décédée, hanterait ses couloirs. En 1984, une équipe de France Inter est venue dans cette maison hantée accompagnée d’un médium. Tous auraient aperçu la servante morte, il y a près d’un demi-millénaire.

North of Clermont-Ferrand, the castle of Veauce was inhabited by Baron Tagori de la Tour between 1973 and 1998. Since the 16th century, the ghost of Lucie, a deceased maid, has haunted its hallways. In 1984, a team from France Inter, France National Radio, came to this haunted house accompanied by a medium. All would have seen the maid, dead nearly half a millennium ago.

Le château de Blandy-les-tours à Blandy
Près de Melun, le château de Blandy-les-Tours aurait une forte concentration de fantômes. Effectivement, une dizaine de spectres auraient été vus dans cet édifice. Le manoir hanté, abriterait le fantôme d’Érard de Montargis, un seigneur auteur de meurtres sanglants, et celui de Marie d’Harcourt, une jeune femme qui se serait jetée du haut du donjon pour lui échapper.

Near Melun, about an hour away from Paris, the castle of Blandy-les-Tours would have a strong concentration of ghosts. Indeed, a dozen spectres would have been seen in this building. The haunted manor would shelter the ghost of Érard de Montargis, a lord author of bloody murders, and that of Marie d’Harcourt, a young woman who would have thrown herself from the top of the dungeon to escape him.

En Dordogne, le château de Puymartin abriterait une présence effrayante. Effectivement, les propriétaires et les visiteurs auraient aperçu la “dame blanche”, le fantôme de Thérèse de Saint-Clar, châtelaine du XVIe siècle. Son mari l’aurait contrainte de passer les 16 dernières années de sa vie dans l’une des pièces d’une tourelle, après qu’il l’ait surprise avec son amant. Depuis, elle errerait par moments, entre les pièces de ce lieu effrayant. Il se visite toute l’année, pour étancher sa soif de frayeur.

In Dordogne, the castle of Puymartin would shelter a frightening presence. Indeed, the owners and the visitors would have seen the “white lady”, the ghost of Thérèse de Saint-Clar, lady of the castle from the 16th century. Her husband would have forced her to spend the last 16 years of her life in one of the rooms of a turret, after he surprised her with her lover. Since then, she would wander at times, between the rooms of this scary place. The castle is opened all year round, to quench your thirst for fear.

Construit entre les XIV et XVI siècles, ce château situé dans le département de la Vienne a de quoi faire froid dans le dos. Effectivement, réputé pour être le “château le plus hanté de France”, de nombreux phénomènes y ont été constaté, comme des apparitions fantomatiques ou des présences anormales. D’avril à novembre, les propriétaires louent le château à la nuit, pour vivre une expérience complètement paranormale.

Built between the XIV and XVI centuries, this castle located in the department of Vienne has what to send chills up your spine…. Indeed, reputed to be the “most haunted castle in France”, many phenomena have been observed there, such as ghostly apparitions or abnormal presences. From April to November, the owners rent the castle at night, to live a completely paranormal experience. Numerous TV crews and mediums have witnessed paranormal phenomena such as cold drafts, voices, shadows, and strange noises….
