  1. Inviter = to invite
  2. Grande fête = Big party
  3. Anniversaire = Birthday
  4. Quarante= Forty
  5. Fêter = To celebrate
  6. Jardin = Garden/Backyard
  7. Plein de = Plenty of
  8. Et puis = And then
  9. Midi = Noon
  10. Après-midi = afternoon
  11. Mettre de la musique = To put on some music
  12. Mes amis = my friends
  13. Mes parents, mes oncles = my parents, my uncles
  14. J’espère = I hope
  15. J’espère aussi = I also hope
  16. Profiter = To enjoy, to take advantage
  17. Tous ensemble = All together

#2 Listening Comprehension: L'anniversaire d'Ingrid

Let’s dive deeper with these three comprehension questions

  1. Quel âge a Ingrid ? =  How old is Ingrid?
  2. Quand est la fête ? = When is the party?
  3. Qu’est-ce qu’elle va préparer ? = What is she preparing (for the party)?

Let’s dive deeper with these three comprehension questions

  1. Quel âge a Ingrid ? =  Ingrid a quarante ans (Ingrid is forty)
  2. Quand est la fête ? = A midi  ‘fêter ça le midi’ = Noon
  3.  Qu’est-ce qu’elle va préparer ? = Un grand barbecue (a big barbecue)

Transcription :

“Bonjour, je m’appelle Ingrid. Cette année, je vais donc fêter mes 40 ans.

J’espère organiser une grande fête dans mon jardin avec ma famille et mes amis. Dans ma famille, je pense inviter mes parents, mes oncles, mes tantes… 

J’espère aussi inviter plein d’amis… Et puis fêter ça le midi, comme ça on pourra faire un grand barbecue, mettre un peu de musique et profiter d’être tous ensemble.”
