Bootcamp #17: Who What When Where Why How In French!

#1 Interrogative words

On utilise les mots interrogatifs pour poser une question.

Qui = Question sur un personne (Who)

Quoi = Question sur une chose (What)

Quand = Question sur un moment, un jour, une heure (When)

Où = Question sur un lieu (Where)

Pourquoi = Question sur la cause (Why)

Comment = Question sur la manière (How)

Combien = Question sur la quantité (how much/how many) ou combien de (avant un nom)= before a noun (how many)

#2 How to use in a French question?

  • On place les mots interrogatifs au début (at the beginning) de la question.

Combien vous êtes ? (How many are you?)

Qui c’est ? (Who’s this?)

Pourquoi il n’est pas content ? (Why he is not happy?)

Quand vous voulez aller au restaurant ? (When do you want to go to the restaurant?)

  • On place les mots interrogatifs à la fin (at the end) des questions en français parlé (spoken casual French).

Vous êtes combien ? (How many are you?)

C’est qui ? (Who’s this?)

Il n’est pas content pourquoi ? (Why he is not happy?)

Vous allez au restaurant quand? (When do you want to go to the restaurant?)

Attention, on utilise ‘quoi’ à la fin d’une question et ‘qu’est-ce que‘ (keskuh)au début d’une question!

Tu fais quoi ? = Qu’est-ce que tu fais ? (What are you doing ? What do you do ?)

Tu fais quoi ? = francais parlé

Qu’est-ce que tu fais ? = français commun/ standard
